Chelsea player "likely" to leave Stamford Bridge; hasn’t played under Poch

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino could sanction an exit in January for one player who hasn't played a minute of first-team football this campaign, according to reports.

What's the latest Chelsea news?

According to a Chelsea transfer update from Football Insider, RB Leipzig will reject any advances from interested parties in striker Lois Openda, who has attracted interest from the Blues, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Openda only joined the Bundesliga side in July from Lens for a fee in the region of £37.1million; however, RB Leipzig are prepared to stand defiant in the midst of attention from elsewhere regarding the 23-year-old after already losing Dominik Szoboszlai, Josko Gvardiol and Christopher Nkunku in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Pochettino has outlined his plans for the duration of the international break before the Premier League returns, stating to the club's official website:

"We will spend it trying to improve players, trying to recover players from injury. We have two weeks which we are going to spend working at the training ground. Of course it’s a different mood to the break last month because to go into it with a victory is much better. But we will keep pushing and working hard to try to be better next month."

In conversation with RMC Sport, Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto has given some insight into competition for places at the club, taking his own battle for a first-team slot with Reece James into account, stating: "We give each other a lot of advice, he tries to help me and I try to help him as best I can. On the pitch, it’s war, he knows it very well. We don’t necessarily do each other any favours and simply the best player will play."

Chelsea transfer update – Trevoh Chalobah

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has given a new Chelsea transfer update on Trevoh Chalobah's immediate future at the club, stating via social media platform that contact with Bayern Munich has remained since the summer and that an exit is "very likely".

"News Trevoh Chalobah: He’s still a candidate for FC Bayern! The 24 y/o remains on the list for the winter window. Chalobah is still keen to join Bayern. Ideas about a loan with an option to buy. But no concrete talks yet. It’s very likely that Chalobah will leave #CFC in winter. The contact with Bayern has never been broken since the summer."

Chalobah was also subject to a last-minute transfer bid from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer window and his future appears to be increasingly uncertain at Stamford Bridge.

Trevoh Chalobah

TEAMtalk also reported last week that Chalobah has been told that he is free to find a new club in January and Thomas Tuchel is reportedly keen to reunite with the 24-year-old in January.

Over the course of his time at Stamford Bridge, Chalobah has registered four goals and one assist from 63 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions. (Trevoh Chalobah stats – Transfermarkt)

Nevertheless, the former England Under-21 international may have to move elsewhere to get his career back on track as he is yet to feature at all under Pochettino, making this one to watch.

Primeiro tempo terminou 3 a 1.

– Além do João (Mário), aquele time campeão tinha outros jovens como o zagueiro Rúben Semedo, atualmente no Olympiakos.

"What an animal" – Fernandez and Silva buzz at what Chelsea player shared

Chelsea finally gave themselves something to build on against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup third round, and Enzo Fernandez and Thiago Silva have both praised one Blues ace in particular for his performance at Stamford Bridge.

What's the latest news involving Chelsea?

Relief was the overriding emotion for Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, as Nicolas Jackson's 50th-minute strike was enough to grant the Blues a first win in four matches in front of their home support in the Carabao Cup third round.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino complemented the performance of Cole Palmer, who was handed his first start since joining the club for £42.5 million from Manchester City in the summer. Cited by METRO, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager stated: "I think like all of the team, I think the team was really good.

"If we assess all of the players, I think we are in a very good level. Cole is a very talented player, he was key in this victory tonight. Still young, he still needs to settle in the club, not only the team, but in the club and the city. I think we saw today how good he is."

Palmer operated in a number ten role during the encounter and provided an effective foil for Senegal international Jackson, laying on a smart assist for the only goal of the game. As per The Evening Standard, Palmer has signalled that he is willing to operate in any position that he is deployed in by the manager, as he said:

"I enjoyed playing in that role tonight but to be totally honest, I’m comfortable in any of the attacking positions. Whether that’s as a No.10, out wide on the left or right or even as striker, I’m happy to do a job for the team."

Nevertheless, Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell was withdrawn late on due to a hamstring injury and there will be concern over the England international due to his last absence because of a similar issue, which kept him out of competing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as per The Mirror.

Next up for Chelsea is a trip to Fulham next Monday in the Premier League and Pochettino will be desperate to get one over the Cottagers and take advantage of momentum generated from the Brighton victory.

What have Enzo Fernandez and Thiago Silva said?

On social media platform Instagram, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella posted some photos from the triumph over Brighton at Stamford Bridge with the caption "Next round".

In reply, Blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez replied with the caption "Qué animal", which translates to "What an animal" in English, and he was joined by veteran defender Thiago Silva in his praise for Cucurella, as the Brazilian commented with four fire emojis.

Marc-Cucurella-Chelsea-premier-league-man-united-transfers

Cucurella, a player in terrible form of late, was outstanding against Brighton despite playing in an unfamiliar right-back berth, winning 11 out of 13 ground duels and achieving a match rating of 7.8/10 from Sofascore.

The Spain international, who has previously been labelled "fantastic" by UEFA’s Technical Observer Panel, also managed to complete four accurate long passes from five attempts.

Fernandez and Silva were clearly buzzing with Cucurella's exploits and with Malo Gusto suspended for the trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham, the former Brighton ace could get another chance to impress Pochettino on the right-hand side of his backline.

Two runs to go, let's take lunch

Fans were left bemused after umpires called lunch with India two short of their target – with nine wickets and 31 overs to spare

ESPNcricinfo staff04-Feb-2018A lengthy break taken with a one-sided match just minutes from concluding? Expect it from cricket. Fans were left bemused after umpires called lunch with India two short of their target – with nine wickets and 31 overs to spare – in the Centurion ODI. South Africa had been bowled out in 32.2 overs for 118, their lowest total in a home ODI, and India came out to chase following a ten-minute changeover.Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were in fluent touch and, at the scheduled lunch time, India were within touching distance of victory, prompting the umpires to take a 15-minute extension. At the end of that added time, India were two runs away from a 2-0 series lead when, to the consternation of Kohli, the umpires – following the letter of the law – called “lunch”. Despite the result being a foregone conclusion, play stopped for about 40 minutes and the Sunday crowd in Centurion had thinned out considerably before the game resumed.India duly completed the win nine balls after the restart, but questions remained over whether a tweak to the game’s rules could offer a more commonsensical approach to prevent more such absurd endings.

Leeds Set To Sign £5.5m "Monster" Who’ll Turn Archie Gray Into An Elland Road Hero

Leeds United could finally be set to restart their summer spending, with a star acquisition reportedly nearing completion…

Who are Leeds United signing this summer?

Having already welcomed Ethan Ampadu, Sam Byram and Karl Darlow to the club, with the loan capture of Joe Rodon also bolstering their ranks further, it must come as a surprise to manager Daniel Farke that his side is actually weaker now than when he first came in.

The mass exodus of Elland Road has seen numerous first-team stars jump ship, unwilling to try and steer the Whites from the mess they put them in.

Whilst frustrating, if they don’t want to be there, the German head coach likely does not want them.

Read the latest Leeds transfer news HERE…

Instead, he will look elsewhere for players who do, with a report from Last Word On Football now suggesting a potential deal for someone who would certainly improve them.

They note that the west Yorkshire outfit are actually set to sign Glen Kamara from Rangers, having been linked with a switch throughout the window.

His club are holding out for a fee of around £5.5m to sanction his exit, with that report also suggesting personal terms have already been agreed.

How good is Glen Kamara?

Despite their troublesome start to the campaign, there has been a sole area on the pitch that has impressed amidst all the turmoil.

Three Championship fixtures have failed to bring a victory, but at the very least a solid foundation for success has been seemingly built with a rock-solid engine room.

The Wales international has struck up an immense relationship with 17-year-old prodigy Archie Gray, boasting youth and energy in spades, with the former in particular offering vast experience despite being just 22 years old.

However, it is likely unrealistic to assume that the Thorp Arch graduate can hold down his spot for the entire term.

That is where Kamara can come in, to help fulfil that role and allow the teenager to take over in a few years, if not allow his attributes to thrive further forward as an attacking maestro.

After all, the Finland international is entering his prime years at 27 years old and would offer an added injection of pace, power, tireless energy and economical passing.

To justify these claims, his performances throughout the 2021/22 Scottish Premiership season are worth viewing, as his 7.01 average rating was buoyed by a host of outstanding other figures.

With three goals, three assists and a 91% pass accuracy, alongside 1.3 key passes and one tackle per game, there is little that Kamara did not excel at, via Sofascore.

The perfect all-rounder, his presence alone could help elevate the whole team.

It was therefore no surprise to see him lauded by former boss Steven Gerrard, who noted:

“He’s a terrific footballer in possession, always playing with his head up and looking to connect defence and attack.

“But what pleased me most is what I spoke about when we signed him in terms of how he’ll be out of possession. Will he hunt the ball back, be aggressive, work hard for the team and be a monster in the middle of the park?

glen-kamara-1

“He showed signs of that against Kilmarnock and potentially he can become a top midfielder.” This was supplemented by a further quote, where the Liverpool legend branded him a "class act".

Then, comparing his figures with Gray’s opening three games of the Championship term, it becomes clear that whilst promising he remains raw.

Kamara could help hone his 81% pass accuracy and 1.3 tackles per game, via Sofascore, into a more refined and confident midfield presence, moulding the youngster in his image whilst allowing him to retain his youthful exuberance that has instantly endeared him to fans.

It would likely take no time at all for Gray to become a hero at Elland Road, but should he manage to copy the performances of his potential new teammate, this would be a venture surely fast-tracked.

Recebem o devido valor!

West Ham: "Beast" player will be "out-of-reach" for Moyes

West Ham United target Joao Palhinha could prove to be 'out-of-reach' due to Fulham's extremely high asking price for the Portugal international, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Is Joao Palhinha going to West Ham United?

According to Football Insider, Fulham have warned West Ham against making another offer for £50k-a-week Palhinha after the Hammers seen an opening bid of £45 million rejected for his services.

The report states that Palhinha is a 'top target' for West Ham following the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal for a record fee for a British player. Last term, Palhinha was an excellent performer at Craven Cottage and made more tackles than anyone else in the Premier League with 148, racking up 48 more than second-placed Moises Caidedo of Brighton & Hove Albion.

In terms of appearances, the 28-year-old featured 40 times in all competitions for Fulham, registering four goals in total, as shown on Transfermarkt.

Last month, The Daily Mail claimed that Fulham set Palhinha's asking price at a whopping £90 million, which they had benchmarked against the fee West Ham eventually received for Rice; however, keen suitors are more likely to value the Portugal international at the £50 million mark.

Any big-money deal for Palhinha would represent a significant profit for Fulham this window, given that the west Londoners brought the box-to-box midfielder for £20 million last year from Sporting Lisbon, as per Sky Sports.

Other targets in the engine room have been mooted for West Ham over the last few weeks, including Ajax's Edson Alvarez, Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse and Manchester United star Scott McTominay.

Nevertheless, transfer insider Jones thinks that Palhinha may prove 'out-of-reach' for West Ham due to Fulham's asking price for his signature.

Jones told FFC: "So I understand he would be more into kind of that Palhinha type figure for West Ham. Now look, the other thing you've got to consider, Edson Alvarez, I think everyone can agree on is going to be a really good signing. Palhinha, I think he's going to prove out-of-reach. I mean, at the moment, for the other players that West Ham are targeting, Palhinha is going to be more expensive than all of them."

Who else could West Ham United sign this window?

West Ham United boss David Moyes is keen to get to work spending the money that the Irons have managed to accumulate for former club captain Rice and the Scot has identified several targets that could potentially pitch up at the London Stadium this window.

Manchester City youngster Carlos Borges is in 'advanced talks' to join West Ham for a fee in the region of £14 million and will provide some variation on the left flank, as per The Evening Standard.

Chelsea's Conor Gallagher

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is another name of interest to West Ham; however, the Blues value the England international at a price exceeding £40 million and it is believed that he would need to drive any potential departure personally, according to Sky Sports.

FC Midtjylland talent Emiliano Martinez is attracting attention from both West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers and his agent, Luis Ferrer, is gauging side's that would be keen to offer his client an opportunity to move elsewhere, as per Football Insider.

Man United Transfer News; Terms Agreed With Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.

Are Man United signing Rasmus Hojlund?

The Red Devils and Erik ten Hag have already splashed the cash this summer by bringing in midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea in a deal worth £60m.

The England international has signed a deal through to 2028 and will wear the famous number 7 shirt at Old Trafford, with Mount potentially the first of many through the door at Old Trafford over the coming weeks.

A new goalkeeper is required after it was confirmed by David de Gea that his 12-year association with the club has come to an end after his contract expired at the end of June.

Inter Milan’s Andre Onana is seemingly the top target in goal, and it looks as if a move is gathering pace, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that a deal will be sealed by the end of next week.

Personal terms have been agreed with the Cameroon international, and by the look of things, an Old Trafford deal has also been struck with Hojlund.

The forward has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester this summer and the club were thought to be readying a £50m bid for the Denmark international.

According to Football Insider in the last 48 hours, there has been a ‘huge new development’ in United’s attempts to sign Hojlund.

The report states that Man United and Hojlund have agreed personal terms and are making progress over a move. The addition of a prolific number nine is the club’s top priority before the window shuts, and it looks as if Hojlund could be the man to arrive.

Rasmus Hojlund

Is Rasmus Hojlund good?

Hojlund is just 20 years of age, but he appears to be making good progress and is seemingly a potential star in the making. He signed for Atalanta just last year and saw his Transfermarkt valuation rocket to a career-high €45m after contributing to 14 goals in 34 games last season.

His former boss Christian Ilzer described him as a player with "incredible maturity" and believed he is "similar to [Erling] Haaland", while Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini also praised Hojlund.

“Hojlund has this spirit, energy, intensity, but also technical quality that is just remarkable.

"He still has so much margin for improvement, too. He is so quick, he’s under 11 seconds over 100m and that’s not even trying very hard. Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very fast. I am convinced he’ll have a great career, he just gets stronger every day.”

Meanwhile, football talent scout Jacek Kulig hailed Hojlund as an "absolute monster in the making", so the left-footed striker could be a shrewd addition for Ten Hag.

That’s because Anthony Martial is reportedly up for sale, and should he depart, United would be left with no senior centre-forward options, with Marcus Rashford primarily a winger. Therefore, signing someone like Hojlund would allow Rashford to turn out in his favoured role, and the Red Devils are getting close to a deal.
