India allrounder Sneh Rana was taken for scans after “complaining of headache” post her collision with Pooja Vastrakar in the field during the second ODI against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium, the BCCI said. Former India captain Anjum Chopra, a commentator at the match, said Rana also complained of nausea.Rana will take no further part in the match. Harleen Deol has been named as her concussion replacement.”She [Rana] had a little bit of headache post the first innings,” India’s head coach Amol Muzumdar said after the match*. “We felt it was appropriate for her to do the scan. The reports have been fine and she is back in the dressing room. She is still having a little bit of a headache, but that’s normal. She is available for the third match.”Related

Ball-by-ball: The seven catches that India dropped
The incident happened in the 25th over of the first innings. Trying to stop a cut by left-hand batter Beth Mooney, Rana moved to her left from short third and Vastrakar to her right from backward point. In the process, Rana’s head banged into Vastrakar and both players fell onto the ground. Rana was taken off the field immediately, with the physio applying ice on her head, but returned after a couple of overs.Rana, who had bowled four overs at the time of the collision, went on to complete her quota of ten overs. She dismissed Ashleigh Gardner in the 37th over and finished with figures of 1 for 59.Rana was the Player of the Match for her seven wickets in the one-off Test played between the two teams last week. In the first ODI that India lost, she dismissed Australia opener Phoebe Litchfield.Deol, who bowls spin but is primarily a batter, was considered a like-for-like replacement for Rana, who is an offspinner primarily and a lower-order batter. Deol’s last ODI outing was against Bangladesh in Mirpur in July, when she scored 77 in a tied game and was named Player of the Match.
Rain played spoilsport in the men’s final at the Asian Games, meaning that only 18.2 overs were possible before the game was abandoned. India, by virtue of being the higher-seeded team, were awarded the gold medal in what proved to be an anti-climactic end to a competitive tournament.Earlier in the afternoon, India had won the toss and had elected to field first. Arshdeep Singh set the tone early, like he did in the semi-final, using the conditions and getting the ball to move prodigiously, both in the air and off the surface. However, it was Shivam Dube who dealt the first blow, getting Zubaidi Akbari to mistime his slog to mid-on in the second over.Arshdeep got his reward in the very next over, cramping Mohammad Shahzad for room and having him caught-behind. Shahzad was unhappy with the decision. His unhappiness was not entirely unwarranted, with replays later indicating that the ball flicked his right bicep rather than the bat or glove.Afghanistan were dented further in the fourth over, with Noor Ali Zadran involved in a needless run-out. He pulled the ball to deep square leg but was a little sluggish with his running, eventually falling inches short of his ground at the striker’s end while trying to complete the second run.Shahidullah steadied Afghanistan after early collapse•AFP/Getty Images
Afsar Zazai and Shahidullah stitched together a 37-run fourth-wicket partnership and looked set to increase the scoring rate in the middle overs. Zazai, though, could not read a beautifully-disguised Ravi Bishnoi googly in the 10th over. The ball pitched on a length just outside off and jagged back, breezing past the inside edge and crashing into the stumps. Shahbaz Ahmed castled Karim Janat an over later to leave Afghanistan tottering at 52-5 after 10.5 overs.Afghanistan got their act together once captain Gulbadin Naib strode out. He injected composure into their innings and put together a 60-run partnership with Shahidullah, off just 45 balls. The pair rotated the strike and were proactive enough to pounce on any loose deliveries.Shahidullah finished with a 43-ball 49, while Naib ended with 27 off 24 balls, helping Afghanistan to a total of 112-5 before rain arrived. Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers for India, giving away only 12 runs in his four overs and bagging a wicket. Arshdeep, Dube and Shahbaz scalped a wicket apiece.
Newcastle United will be doing all they can to keep hold of Alexander Isak this summer, with a new update outlining the efforts they are going to, in order to retain his services.
Isak stars for Newcastle in Wembley win
Magpies supporters will still be buzzing after their EFL Cup final victory over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, on one of the most memorable days in the club’s history, as they ended their long 70-year wait for domestic glory.
Unsurprisingly, Isak played a huge part in the 2-1 win at Wembley, burying a finish to put Newcastle 2-0 up, having only recently seen another effort ruled out for offside. He was a menace all afternoon, and as was the case at St James’ Park in the Premier League back in December, the Reds struggled to contain him.
Newcastle United's AlexanderIsakcelebrates scoring their second goal
It has been a sensational season for the 25-year-old, who has stood out as arguably the best striker in the world, even above someone like Erling Haaland. He has scored 23 goals in total, leading the line superbly and standing out as one of the Magpies’ biggest attacking heroes in years.
Guimaraes replacement: Newcastle make first move to sign Man City target
Guimaraes could be on his way out of Newcastle…

There is plenty of concern from Newcastle fans about losing their most prized asset in the summer transfer window, however, with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal seeing him as the perfect addition to their respective attacks.
Newcastle pulling out all the stops to keep Isak
According to a new report from The Boot Room, PIF are “ready to break their wage structure” to keep hold of Newcastle star Isak at the end of the season and make him their highest earner in club history, as they look to fend off interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.
The Magpies are “going to have to go way above” Bruno Guimaraes’ current £160,000-a-week wages if they want to tie down the Swede, who currently earns £120,000 per week. The update goes on to state that the striker “will wait to see where Eddie Howe’s side finish in the Premier League before deciding whether to commit to the club”, and if they finish in the top four, could offer Isak more than £200,000 per week.
Newcastle United's AlexanderIsak
Keeping hold of Isak is more important than any signing that arrives at St James’ this summer, with the Sweden international an irreplaceable figure.
He is still a relatively young player, so there is no reason why he can’t be at his best for another six or seven years for the Magpies, while Alan Shearer is a huge admirer, saying of him last year:
“He is just a constant threat all the time. His finishing is excellent and his penalty taking is as good as they come. He is confident and cool and believes in everything he is doing. We know that once he gets away over the top, he is going to cause you an absolute nightmare. His ability to link up and his understanding [is brilliant].”
This should act as a massive incentive for Eddie Howe, in terms of securing Champions League football and making Isak believe Newcastle can go on to bigger and better things. To lose him at this point would be so hard to take, but the appeal of Liverpool and Arsenal is obvious if the Magpies miss out on Europe’s biggest competition.
Manchester United are now closely monitoring an “unbelievable” top flight forward who could cost as little as £42 million, according to a new report.
Man Utd eye new forwards as Zirkzee and Hojlund struggles continue
The Red Devils are expected to enter the transfer market for several key positions this summer, but none more important than a new striker. Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg reported last week that United have a number of centre-forward targets across Europe they are looking at, as Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggle in front of goal.
Amorim can finally axe Casemiro for Man Utd's 19-year-old academy "beast"
Man Utd could have a gem on their hands
ByJoe Nuttall Mar 24, 2025
One player who has emerged on their list ahead of the summer is AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, with Africa Foot reporting that the Premier League giants have made signing the versatile winger one of their priorities. United have allegedly already held talks with the Cherries over a potential deal at the end of the campaign.
It appears as though those talks have gone well, as the report adds that United are ready to make a bid worth £33.5 million to sign Semenyo. The 25-year-old has had a very productive season for Bournemouth, scoring seven goals and registering four assists in 28 league games, and his ability to play out wide will also be an added bonus to Ruben Amorim.
Amorim also working on move for Semenyo's Bournemouth teammate
But Semenyo is not the only Bournemouth attacker on United’s radar, as according to Caught Offside, Man United have added Justin Kluivert to their transfer wishlist as an alternative option for the centre-forward position or wide role.
Justin Kluivert for Bournemouth.
The report states that the Red Devils have been keeping a close eye on the Bournemouth attacker for a while now, as the Dutchman has been very impressive this season. United are not alone in their pursuit of Kluivert, as Newcastle, Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in a potential deal, but it is claimed that Amorim has ‘already started working’ on his forward moves.
The Cherries are believed to be looking to get around €50-55 million (£42-46 million) for Kluivert, who was lauded as “unbelievable” by members of the press last month.
Kluivert, for his part, is said to be open to leaving Bournemouth if he receives an offer from a big Premier League team, and his suitors think his price tag is ‘reasonable’.

Kluivert’s potential arrival at Old Trafford could see him be the replacement for Marcus Rashford, who is out on loan at Aston Villa currently and looks likely to leave United as they weigh up the idea of cashing in on him, which will help them bring in new players during the summer.
The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season, and his ability to play out wide or as a number 10 is ideal for Amorim, as he looks to add more versatility to his squad.
The fixture has been revised owing to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation election on May 4
ESPNcricinfo staff17-Apr-2023Lucknow Super Giants’ IPL 2023 home game against Chennai Super Kings has been brought forward from May 4 to May 3 because of the municipal elections in Lucknow on the original date. The game was scheduled to have a 3.30pm start, as part of a Thursday double-header, with Sunrisers Hyderabad facing Kolkata Knight Riders in the later game. The rescheduled game will also start at 3.30pm, making it a Wednesday double-header with Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians starting at 7.30pm.That will mean just a one-day gap between matches for Super Giants, who play Royal Challengers Bangalore at home on May 1, while Super Kings have a slightly longer break, since their previous game will be on April 30, against Punjab Kings at home in Chennai. As such, the IPL schedule has always had to be fitted around elections – nationwide as well as local and statewide ones – because of security reasons. Parliamentary elections forced the 2009 edition of the tournament to be played entirely in South Africa, while the 2014 edition started in the UAE and moved to India only after the culmination of the elections. In 2019, the last time the general elections was conducted in India, the tournament took place in India. This time, too, some teams had a cluster of matches at home, or away, because of assembly elections in their respective cities/states. As an example, Royal Challengers Bangalore have played four out of their first five matches at home in Bengaluru and will play two of their next three at home too, but then play five games away to account for the assembly elections in Karnataka in the second week of May.
Manchester City's pursuit of a top four finish in the Premier League was dealt a blow after they were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at The Etihad on Sunday. The Cityzens are now level on points with Newcastle United, who are fifth, and only one point ahead of Bournemouth and Chelsea in sixth and seventh respectively. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai secured all three points for the away side on an evening to forget for Pep Guardiola and his men, who failed to match Arne Slot's team's quality.

City swooped to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in the January transfer window, but the exciting addition could not make the difference against the Reds on Sunday.Omar Marmoush's performance against LiverpoolThe Egypt international lined up just behind Phil Foden as a second striker and had mixed success, with some moments of quality and other moments to forget.Marmoush tried to get at the Liverpool defence and did manage to complete two of his three attempted dribbles, whilst he also got four shots off during the match. However, only two of those shots troubled Alisson and the Brazil international kept hold of both efforts, as the attacker's shots did not have enough quality on them to seriously trouble the goalkeeper.Marmoush, who completed 89% of his attempted passes, did not create any 'big chances' for his teammates, though, and lost five of his nine duels, as he struggled with the physicality of the game at times. These statistics show that the former Bundesliga star, who recently scored a hat-trick against Newcastle, caused some problems for the Reds, but ultimately did not do enough to earn a positive result for his side. The 26-year-old dynamo had showcased his quality in front of goal, as shown in the highlights above, against the Magpies, but he could not replicate that with any of his four shots this time around.Whilst it was not a brilliant display by Marmoush against Liverpool, attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was even worse than the January recruit with his showing at The Etihad.Kevin De Bruyne's performance against LiverpoolThe Belgian star had racked up four goals and nine assists in 19 career games against Liverpool in all competitions prior to the clash at The Etihad on Sunday.De Bruyne was once a player who could step up to win City matches against the best teams, as evidenced by his excellent record against the Reds, but his performance this time around illustrated his decline on the pitch. In 66 minutes on the pitch, the former Chelsea talent did not create a single 'big chance' for his teammates or register an effort on goal to test Alisson. In fact, his shot at the end of the first half was closer to the top tier of the stands than it was to the Liverpool goal.

Stats via Sofascore
As you can see in the table above, de Bruyne was even worse than Marmoush against Liverpool, as he had fewer shots on target, completed a lower percentage of his passes, and won half as many duels – showing that he offered less than the Egyptian on and off the ball. The Express handed him a player rating of just 5/10 and wrote that he 'struggled' to deal with the intensity of the game, which is backed up by his dismal statistics.Man City supporters have become accustomed to seeing the Belgian magician consistently delivering quality performances, goals, and assists, but he has been far from his best of late, with one goal – against Leyton Orient – and zero assists in his last seven matches.imagelargeChalkboardFootball FanCast's Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game. His contract at The Etihad comes to an end in the summer, just shy of ten years at the club, and Guardiola must permanently move on from the midfielder by not attempting to pin him down to a contract extension. Why Manchester City should let De Bruyne goThe Spanish head coach should ruthlessly ditch the Belgium international and allow him to leave on a free transfer, because his form has declined over the past 18 months or so and he is one of the highest earners at the club.Per Capology, de Bruyne earns £400k-per-week, ranking him second and only behind Erling Haaland (£525k-per-week) at City, and they have not got value for money on that this season.De Bruyne has racked up 173 assists in his Manchester City career in all competitions, with some of his best included in the clips above, but he appears to be past his creative peak.He has created 11 'big chances' in 18 Premier League appearances this season, which is a far cry from the 21 'big chances' he provided his teammates with in the same number of games in the division last term.

Wages via Capology & stats via WhoScored
As you can see in the table above, only Jack Grealish – another City forward – has produced less than de Bruyne in the final third among the top-earning attackers in the top-flight this season. This suggests that the Cityzens are not getting bang for their buck with the Belgian hero, who appears to be past his best and turns 34 in June, as players earning a similar amount of money to him have provided their teams with far more quality – in goals and assists – in the Premier League. Now could be the perfect time for City to part ways with the club legend, upon the expiry of his contract in the summer, and his departure could provide another player with a chance to step up and become a new icon for the supporters moving forward, whether that is Marmoush, Phil Foden, Savinho, or potentially a new signing. It will then be down to the recruitment team and Guardiola to unearth the next de Bruyne, whether that is a new signing or an emerging talent from the academy, to bolster the midfield in the 2025/26 campaign and beyond. Man City have moved on a number of young stars in recent years
When does it start? Who are the biggest names in attendance? Why the talent jam this year? We’ve got all your questions on the Bangladesh Premier League covered
Mohammad Isam04-Jan-2023 So yet another franchise T20 league… Yes, the BPL returns for its ninth edition from January 6. It has seven franchise teams that will play 46 games across three cities – Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet. The final will be played on February 16 in Dhaka. Yes, it is franchise league, but one of the older ones.Really? Indeed, the BPL’s inaugural season was in 2012, predating the SPL and the PSL. Barring the Indian players, almost every major T20 superstar has played in this tournament at one time or the other.Like who? Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Alex Hales and David Warner have all played the BPL. The likes of Jofra Archer, Nicholas Pooran and Mohammad Nabi too played the BPL early in their careers. So who are the big stars coming to BPL this year? That’s the thing. The BPL moved quite late in acquiring players for this season. It’s quite packed with the UAE’s ILT20 and South Africa’s SA20 the new tournaments on the calendar, both clashing with the BPL, and Australia’s BBL running concurrently too. Many of the biggest stars were already snapped up elsewhere by the time the BPL draft came around on November 23.So nobody’s coming? BPL 2023 will have a smattering of Pakistan stars like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Shaheen Shah Afridi is also expected to turn up if and when he regains match fitness, while Dawid Malan and Sikandar Raza, who are both expected to be in the ILT20 too, are understood to have committed to a few games at least for their BPL teams.Need to win a BPL title? Call Mashrafe Mortaza – he’s captained three different teams to victory•Asif HassanIf the biggest T20 stars are playing elsewhere at the same time, then why should I watch the BPL? Bangladesh’s biggest T20 stars are all available for the BPL, including Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman. Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza and Mushfiqur Rahim, who have all retired from T20Is, will also be on show this tournament. This tournament will offer players looking to become household names in cricket a stage to strut their stuff – the likes of Curtis Campher, Max O’Dowd, Brandon King, Chamika Karunaratne and Paul van Meekeren. This tournament is also important to Bangladesh’s T20 development, right? Bangladesh struggle more often than not in T20I cricket, so it feels contradictory that they host a big-money T20 franchise league where so many local players appear every year. But then the BPL franchises rely heavily on overseas players. Domestic cricketers hardly face up to the crunch moments, being mostly kept to bit-part roles. Still, the rare T20 talent is unearthed, like last season when Munim Shahriar showed a glimpse of his big-hitting talent. He was quickly drafted into the T20I side, but is yet to make the step up.The BPL also often has off-the-field problems? So many of them. From the huge match-fixing scandal of 2013 to teams being unable to pay players on time, to a mix-up on the points table resulting in confusion over who’d made the semis, to teams trying to field players without the required paperwork, it has all happened at the BPL.Last season, Mehidy Hasan Miraz nearly left the competition mid-way after a row with a team official – a saga that involved him being removed as captain and allegations of interference in naming XIs. There was also a last-minute change of team ownership last season, but this especially is par for the course. In total, there have been 27 BPL team owners in nine seasons. Sylhet has had six different owners, while Dhaka has had five, and both will have new ownership this year. Comilla has been around since 2015 although they dropped out for one season in between. The Rajshahi franchise stopped existing since the 2019 season. The constant churn adds to a general feeling of chaos surrounding the tournament.Trying to recall memorable BPL moments… Can you jog my memory? Gayle and Tamim have hit superb centuries in BPL finals, in 2019 and 2017 respectively.Mortaza won the BPL with an underdog Comilla Victorians in their debut season in 2015, one of different teams he’s led to the title, Dhaka Gladiators and Rangpur Riders being the others.
Rangers are reportedly said to be interested in bringing a former player back to Ibrox in the January transfer window, as they make an offer directly to the defender.
Rangers transfer news
The Gers still have time to complete some late business during the current window, with Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis linked with a move to Ibrox. He has found playing time impossible to come by this season, so a move away could appeal to him, also giving Philippe Clement additional firepower.
Highly-rated Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller has been a rumoured transfer target for Rangers for some time, with reports continuing to back him to move to the club before the end of the month. Just 18 years of age, he has registered six assists in 19 Scottish Premiership starts this season.
A reunion with former winger Ryan Kent has also been mooted for the Gers, having scored 33 goals and registered 56 assists in 218 appearances for the club during his first stint there, also winning the Scottish Premiership title.
In terms of potential exits at Rangers in the coming days, left-back Ridvan Yilmaz has been linked with a move to Besiktas, having played for the club earlier in his career. Interestingly, Celtic’s Greg Taylor is considered an alternative option for the Turkish giants.
Rangers make offer to former defender
According to a new update from Swiss outlet Watson (via Glasgow Times), Rangers have made an offer to former defender Nikola Katic, looking to bring him back to the club after he left in 2022, but it is not clear if there have been any formal negotiations with his current club Zürich.
The 28-year-old was signed by Steven Gerrard in 2018 but suffered an injury-hit spell at Ibrox, never quite being able to consistently show his best form.
Nikola Katic
Katic could be a strong addition for Rangers before the window is closed, considering the Zürich defender is still at an age where he can be at his peak for several more years. The former Gers man has won six caps for Bosnia, as well as representing Croatia once before changing his allegiances, while Gerrard hailed his long-term potential when he managed him during their time together.
Katic himself is thought to be both keen on a move away from Zürich and interested in making a return to Rangers, and the fact that he would improve Clement’s defensive options means it is a transfer that could make sense for all parties.

The centre-back may even feel that he has unfinished business at Ibrox, given his injury-prone nature and the fact that he was limited to only 59 appearances – he scored six goals in that time – so the hope is that the Gers’ offer is accepted.
Wicketkeeper-batter Natasha McLean and offspinner Sheneta Grimmond have returned to the West Indies Women’s ODI side, having been picked in the 17-member provisional squad for the three ODIs against New Zealand from September 16 to 22 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The squad also included Under-19 uncapped left-arm quick Jannillea Glasgow.Newly-appointed captain Hayley Matthews will lead the side for the first time. This will be West Indies’ first series in any format since they lost the semi-final to eventual champions Australia in the ODI World Cup in March earlier this year.West Indies will be without a few senior players this time, such as Anisa Mohammed, Deandra Dottin and Kycia Knight. While Anisa took a six-month break from cricket earlier this month, Dottin announced a sudden international retirement during the Commonwealth Games last month.Performances in the inaugural Women’s 6ixty and CPL were taken into consideration while picking the squad, a CWI release said. Grimmond took 2 for 22 for Trinbago Knight Riders in the victorious CPL final and claimed another four wickets in her 6.2 overs in the 6ixty. Glasgow also represented Trinbago Knight Riders in the two tournaments but she barely got chances to bat or bowl.Grimmond last played for West Indies in Pakistan in November last year, whereas McLean’s last international game was a T20I in September 2020, and her last ODI was in November 2019. McLean has the experience of 30 ODIs to her name and Grimmond has seven.”The New Zealand series is very important on the women’s cricket landscape not only because it starts a new cycle, but also because it is part of the preparation leading towards the T20 World Cup in South Africa,” lead selector for women’s cricket Ann Browne-John said. “With a few senior players unavailable at this time, for different reasons, like the experienced Anisa Mohammed, Kycia Knight and recently retired Deandra Dottin, the selectors were still able to get a blend of senior and developing players including Under-19 player Jannillea Glasgow and returning players Natasha McLean and Sheneta Grimmond. Ultimately, we believe that captain Hayley Matthews, in her first series, will have a promising squad of players to start building with.”Allrounder Mandy Mangru, 22, and left-arm spinner Kaysia Schultz have also joined the players in Antigua for a ten-day training camp led by head coach Courtney Walsh. Mangu and Glasgow were handed development contracts when CWI had announced the annual retainers in June.CWI said a match-day squad of 13 players will be selected ahead of each ODI. The ODIs will be followed by five T20Is from September 25 to October 6, which will also be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The ODIs will be part of the new Women’s Championship cycle in which both West Indies and New Zealand are yet to play a game.ODI squad Hayley Matthews (capt), Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle (wk), Shamilia Connell, Afy Fletcher, Cherry Ann Fraser, Shabika Gajnabi, Jannillea Glasgow, Sheneta Grimmond, Chinelle Henry, Kyshona Knight, Natasha McLean (wk), Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack, Shakera Selman, Stafanie Taylor, Rashada Williams
