Flocking to Twitter, many West Ham United fans have gone wild as the club announced that manager David Moyes has penned a new three-year deal – coming after Everton showed an interest in the 58-year-old.
The Scotsman guided West Ham to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League over 2020/2021, securing their qualification for the Europa League group stage next season.
An arguably remarkable achievement given they narrowly avoided relegation the season before, West Ham have now seen fit to reward Moyes for his brilliant job at the London Stadium.
The announcement had been predicted sooner than this weekend, with reliable club insider ExWHUemployee expecting it to be confirmed last week (Twitter).

Barry Fry believes Mauricio Pochettino would be willing to resign from his job at PSG in order to seal a sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentine has been heavily linked with an amazing move back to north London in recent days.
The Athletic has reported that talks have opened between the two sides and that Pochettino would be willing to return, were an agreement to be reached.
Of course, the Argentine is currently under contract with the French giants but he only has a year remaining on his deal.
Fry believes that he could well walk away, although he thinks Spurs will ultimately be forced to pay a huge compensatory fee to lure Pochettino back to the club he guided to the Champions League final and two Premier League title challenges.
Indeed, Pochettino is said to have signed a contract that included the option to extend for a further year, suggesting that PSG could well trigger that in order to extract a higher fee from Spurs.
Asked about whether he could envisage Pochettino’s resignation, Fry exclusively told Football FanCast: “Yes I can, but I can see there being a large compensation claim as well so it seems ironic that it cost him millions to get rid of him and it might cost him millions to get him back, but that’s football.”
The batting performances from Punjab and Baroda on the second day of their Ranji Trophy semi-final have made it highly unlikely that their tie lasts the entire five days
Staff Reporter15-Feb-2002The batting performances from Punjab and Baroda on the second day of their Ranji Trophy semi-final have made it highly unlikely that their tie lasts the entire five days. Indeed, with Baroda ending Thursday on 189/8, the match might even end on Friday.Resuming on 95/4, Punjab were bowled out for 237, a meagre lead of 15 runs. Zaheer Khan took his innings tally to four, while Ajit Bhoite followed up a good batting performance with two wickets. For Punjab, Dinesh Mongia and Vikram Rathour, the overnight batsmen were the only ones to contribute significantly with the bat.Putting on 124 runs for the fifth wicket, both batsmen got to their fifty. Mongia scored 62 before being caught behind, while Rathour was run out by Bhoite for 55. The two fell in quick succession, and Baroda, brushing aside some resistance from the tail, bowled their rivals out in 69 overs. But their second-innings batting left much to be desired. Skipper Jacob Martin showed some spirit in making 41, but the real fightback came from Bhoite and Zaheer Khan. Putting on 61 runs in just 47 balls, the pair took Baroda from a pitiful 118/7 to 179 before Zaheer fell, having made 35 off 30 balls with four fours and two sixes.Baroda were 189/8 at stumps, with Bhoite (34*) and Valmik Buch (8*) still at the crease. The hosts will be looking to Bhoite, their rescuer on numerous occasions in this match, to build a sizeable enough second-innings total to set Punjab a challenging target. The presence of three selectors – Chandu Borde, Shivlal Yadav and Sanjay Jagdale – should further spur bowlers like Zaheer Khan along to give their best on Friday.
In one swift tapping of the publish button on Twitter, Nuno Espirito Santo’s stay at Wolves is coming to an end.
The Portuguese manager has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in the past but his untimely departure on Friday afternoon came as a shock.
Nuno has been the foundation holding everything together at Molineux for the last four years. He has guided them from being a mid-table Championship club to one which achieved a place in the Europa League quarter-finals last season.
The 47-year-old has built an impressive armoury of Portuguese talent and, together with Fosun, they have taken the club to a new level in the modern era. Therefore, to lose him after their final match of the current campaign will be a huge loss.
With the transfer window opening in just a matter of weeks, the Old Gold hierarchy will need to make sure they have a swift replacement installed.
One man they have targeted is former Benfica coach Bruno Lage. Another Portuguese manager, he was touted with a switch to Molineux last month, but a move now appears to be gathering pace.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano took to social media in the immediate aftermath of Nuno’s resignation with the following update: “Wolves have contacted former Benfica manager Bruno Lage as ‘main option’ to replace Nuno Espirito Santo who’s leaving the club. Talks ongoing.”

Lage took over the Lisbon giants in January 2019, losing just 13 of his 76 matches in charge while guiding them to the 2018/19 Primeira Liga title. In the process, he and his team were described as “spectacular” by the reputed World Soccer magazine.
It was under his stewardship that a number of Benfica’s young players came to prominence, with newly-crowned FWA Premier League Player of the Year Ruben Dias thriving under his management.
Another player he helped take to the next level was Joao Felix. The forward bagged 17 goals and produced ten assists in just 29 outings under Lage before moving to Atletico Madrid for a mind-boggling £113m – the fifth-highest transfer fee in world football.
The 44-year-old also developed Florentino Luis, who has been linked with Leeds United, and Ferro, a centre-back now plying his trade at Valencia.
In bringing through all of these players, he showed why he’d be perfect for the current crop at Molineux. Jeff Shi likes a manager who can develop young talent, an area where Nuno was particularly adept.
That being said, with Lage at the helm, Wolves could extract even more from those coming through the academy. Fabio Silva will be able to take great comfort from what the 44-year-old achieved with Felix, another of football’s global wonderkids.
Wolves’ record signing has only netted four times since moving to England but could see his game significantly improved under a new manager. The likes of Vitinha, Morgan Gibbs-White and Christian Marques could also look forward to regular first team minutes if Lage’s work at Benfica is anything to go by.
The Jorge Mendes client may not be well known to an English audience but neither was Nuno before he arrived in the Midlands.
Lage certainly worth a punt from Shi.
AND in other news, Wolves intend to buy “unpredictable” 23-goal Mendes client, he’s an upgrade on Podence…
Newcastle United have been gifted a potential transfer boost in their pursuit of Kristoffer Ajer, which involves Freddie Woodman.
The Lowdown: Woodman had great season
Woodman has come off the back of a great 2020/21 season with Swansea City under Steve Cooper, playing in no fewer than 52 games in total over all competitions, keeping 22 clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).
He was vital in getting the Swans into the EFL Championship play-off final, in where they unfortunately lost out 2-0 to Brentford at Wembley Stadium.
However, with Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow still at St. James’ Park, there is a question mark over whether there is a place for Woodman in Steve Bruce’s squad, meaning that he may be open to the possibility of selling him if a good offer comes in in the summer window.
The Latest: Woodman and Ajer could be swapped
As per Football Insider, Woodman could be used in a potential swap deal to lure Ajer away from Celtic and to the North East.
The Hoops have enquired over the availability of the English goalkeeper, and a recruitment source has told the news outlet that they are not the only club keen on securing his signature.
A part-exchange deal with Ajer is a possibility, although the Tyneside club would prefer to ship Woodman out on loan again or just sell him permanently.
The Verdict: Perfect for Newcastle
The Magpies must surely consider swapping Woodman, a player who may not get much game time come the new campaign, for a player who would vastly improve their team in Ajer.
Described as an ‘outstanding’ player back in March by former Toon ace Lee Clark, who managed him during a loan spell at Kilmarnock, Norway international Ajer is certainly ready to make the step up to the Premier League, and standing at a mammoth six-foot-six-inches tall, he should have no problems at all in coping with its physical and aerial demands.
At just 23 years of age as well, Ajer will only get better, and that is the same with Woodman at 24 – the difference of course, is Woodman has two quality options in front of him in the pecking order.
Thus, NUFC could go through with a straight swap or even sell Woodman separately for a decent amount of money given his age, and use that in any deal to buy Ajer.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Rob Lee, who made 280 Premier League appearances, has claimed that people don’t realise how good and important Kalvin Phillips has been for Leeds United.
Phillips has been an ever-present when fit in Marcelo Bielsa’s side as he operates as the sole holding midfielder in a 4-1-4-1 formation which allows Leeds to get so many players forward.
The 25-year old has already got seven England caps and seems guaranteed to have a place in Gareth Southgate’s side for the European Championship’s this summer, potentially even being in the starting XI if Jordan Henderson fails to recover from his injury.
[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-leeds-transfer-rumours-and-news” title=”Read the latest Leeds transfer rumours and news!”]
Speaking on why Phillips is so important to Leeds and how a lot of people underestimate the work he does for the team, Lee exclusively told FFC:
“Yeah, I rate Kalvin Phillips very highly and I think he’s another player, like Declan Rice, who’s young but does that job which many people don’t realise is difficult to do.
“If you’ve got someone who can sit back, read the game well, break things up, pass it simply and is a good athlete then it helps the team because the other players can get forward and try to score goals, much like Leeds do as they fly forward.”
Leeds have struggled all season when Phillips has been injured and out of the nine games the midfielder has missed, Leeds have won just two.
The Whites have enjoyed an impressive first season back in the Premier League with fears of relegation quickly swept aside with Marcelo Bielsa’s attacking style of play.
Manchester United will be aiming to extend Manchester City’s wait for the Premier League title as they take on Liverpool at Old Trafford today.
Pep Guardiola’s men will be crowned as champions if the Red Devils fall to defeat against their great rivals so there is even more motivation for them to claim victory against the Reds.
Considering that then, how many changes could United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be tempted to make from the 6-2 thumping of AS Roma in Europa League action midweek?
We are expecting just two changes from the Norwegian for the clash – neither of them being much of a surprise.
Dean Henderson should be recalled to take his place between the sticks having seen David De Gea start on Thursday evening. The former Sheffield United loanee has started each of the last seven Premier League matches for the Red Devils.
Elsewhere, he should be shielded by an unchanged back four of Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
There should also not be any changes from the defensive midfield pairing of Fred and Scott McTominay.

After his two goals against AS Roma, Bruno Fernandes is once again sure to take his place in a slightly more advanced position.
Meanwhile, there should be a slight tweek to the attack. Edinson Cavani is sure to start after his two goal and three assist haul in midweek and will once again be supported by Marcus Rashford.
Mason Greenwood should come into the starting line-up though at the expense of the £54m-rated Paul Pogba.
The 19-year-old appears back to his best form having hit six goals since the start of March in all competitions for Manchester United.
