Liverpool fans may just be believing that, yet again, this could be their year after a favourable Champions League draw against Porto and their most recent win against Fulham saw them rise back into pole position in the title race, for now at least. 

The Reds may feel aggrieved because normally when a side have lost just once in the league all season, they would be dead cert favourites for the title, however unfortunately with Manchester City hot in pursuit, that hasn’t been the case.

For all the improvements Liverpool have made to their team from last season until now, as of yet, they have nothing to show for it and if the Premier League title again evades their reach, disappointment will be greater than ever.

Now unfortunately for Liverpool fans, no one can tell the future and so their title ambitions still hang in the balance. Though next season, they can get ahead of the competition by employing another clinical finisher in the form of Sporting Lisbon’s Bas Dost.

Dost, (who is valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt) would be a top signing for the Reds and a sign of their commitment to keep improving. Of course, fans would love to see FSG splash the cash after a silent January transfer window and the Dutchman may just be the best man for the club’s owners to spend their money on.

Although 29-years-old, Bas Dost theoretically still has plenty of time to assert himself as a top finisher for Liverpool and if he continues scoring at a rate of 21 goals in 31 games, like he has this season, the Reds faithful would surely welcome him with open arms.

Roberto Firmino has gone off the boil at times this season and although still a menace for defenders to contain, goals have not been as easy to come by for him.

Dost – who the club may have been linked with by TEAMtalk over the summer as the Reds looked on at events in Lisbon over the summer – however, has spent the last few seasons scoring goals for fun and that is a trend Liverpool would be desperate for him to continue if he agreed on a move to Anfield.

أكد أحد مسؤولي نادي مانشستر سيتي أنهم يأملون تجديد عقد مدرب الفريق، بيب جوارديولا، ولكنهم في الوقت ذاته ينوون التفكير في البديل المناسب له، حال رحيله.

ومن المقرر أن ينتهي العقد الحالي للمدرب الإسباني مع السكاي بلو، في عام 2021.

وارتبط جوارديولا أكثر من مرة بخطوة الرحيل عن مانشستر سيتي، خاصة عند إعلان الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم عقوبة منع الفريق من خوض المنافسات الأوروبية لمدة موسمين.

وهدأت حدة التكهنات حول مستقبل جوارديولا بعد إلغاء العقوبة المذكورة، من قِبل محكمة التحكيم الرياضية.

وقال رئيس العمليات في نادي مانشستر سيتي، عمر برادة، في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “تليجراف” الإنجليزية: “نتحدث عن المدى الذي وصل إليه النادي حيث قضى جوارديولا أطول فترة تدريب له معنا، هذا يعني أنه سعيد بوجوده هنا”.

ووصل جوارديولا إلى موسمه الخامس مع مانشستر سيتي، متجاوزًا بذلك السنوات الأربع التي قضاها في برشلونة وبايرن ميونخ.

وتابع: “إنه مرتاح هنا، بيب هو أفضل مدرب في العالم ونريده أن يبقى، سنجري محادثات معه في الوقت المناسب ونأمل أن يمدد عقده معنا لأن مساهمته كانت هائلة وستستمر لفترة طويلة”.

واستكمل: “ستحدث تلك المحادثات في الوقت المناسب لكن موقفنا واضح للغاية نريده أن يبقى، إذا كان هناك شعور بأننا سنحتاج إلى البدء في التخطيط للبديل المناسب له، فسنفعل ذلك، لكن أولويتنا هي فعل ما في وسعنا والتحدث معه للتأكد من أنه يشعر بالراحة وأن جميع الظروف مناسبة له للاستمرار”.

ويرى برادة أن العلاقة الوثيقة بين جوارديولا ومدير كرة القدم، تكسيكي بيجيريستين، والرئيس التنفيذي للسيتي، فيران سوريانو، ستجعل المناقشات حول عقد جديد أسهل.

وأوضح: “كان من المهم بالنسبة لنا أن يكون لدينا فترة انتقالات ناجحة، والتي كانت لدينا الكثير من القرارات الجيدة بشأن الفريق واللاعبين والقدرة التنافسية، كما قلت أولويتنا هي بقاء بيب، لذا إذا تطلب الأمر بعض الوقت، سنفعل ذلك، لكننا نريده أن يبقى، هناك عنصر الاستعداد لاتخاذ قرار ولكن في نفس الوقت من حيث أدائه كمدرب للفريق فقد أظهر التزامًا كافيًا، كما أظهرنا التزامًا تجاهه”.

واختتم: “هناك ثقة كبيرة في تلك العلاقة، مع رئيس مجلس الإدارة خلدون المبارك ومع فيران سوريانو وتكسيكي وبيب وطاقمه الفني، وعندما يكون لديك هذا المستوى من الثقة في العلاقة، تكون المحادثات أسهل بكثير، أعتقد أننا سنكون بخير طوال هذه المرحلة، ستحدث هذه المحادثات في الوقت المناسب”.

Currently on an unbeaten run of ten games, the Owls are just two points behind the play-off positions yet in order for them to complete a remarkable turn around this season, one player in particular will have to finally step up to the plate.

A graduate of Newcastle United’s academy, Rolando Aarons was seemingly destined for great things after demonstrating an incredible level of talent as a teenager. The Jamaican-born winger debuted for the Magpies in an away defeat at Manchester City in 2014 and later scored his first ever goal for the club in what was a sensational individual performance against Crystal Palace.

However, his early promise was hampered significantly by a plethora of injury problems which limited him to just 21 appearances over three seasons.

Two largely unsuccessful loan spells at Hellas Verona and Slovan Liberec in the past year has done nothing to help Aarons’ hopes of returning to the top level of football yet January’s move to Wednesday could provide the necessary conditions for him to blossom.

Playing under an experienced English manager in Bruce, the winger will undoubtedly learn and develop as a player if he continues to illustrate the correct attitude needed to be a success in the Championship. Furthermore, a consistent level of playing time will give Aarons the confidence that could be beneficial for both himself and the Owls.

An extremely gifted player on his day, the 23-year-old ace could embark on a purple patch of form which would help his side reach the play-offs at the end of the season.

However, if he doesn’t step up and deliver, Aarons will know that his time in the higher tiers of English football could be over, leading to his career to fade away after initially being considered as one of the country’s brightest young prospects.

تشهد منافسات دوري أبطال أوروبا هذا الموسم 2020-2021 حدوث سابقة للمرة الأولى في تاريخ المسابقة.

لأول مرة في التاريخ هذا الموسم هناك 10 أمريكيين مسجلين في قوائم أنديتهم بدوري أبطال أوروبا.

من بينهم لاعبان من برشلونة، الأول هو سيرجينيو ديست، الذي انضم من أياكس هذا الشهر، وشارك لأول مرة ضد إشبيلية قبل فترة التوقف الدولي.

تقارير صحفية ذكرت مؤخرًا أن ريال مدريد الإسباني وليفربول الإنجليزي يريدان التعاقد مع الدولي الأمريكي جيوفاني رينا صانع ألعاب دورتموند.

وبحسب صحيفة “بيلد” الألمانية، فإن بوروسيا دورتموند سيعرض على رينا عقدًا جديدًا براتب أكبر، لربطه لوقت أطول داخل “سيجنال إيدونا بارك”.

وأوضحت الصحيفة أن العقد الجديد للاعب الشاب صاحب الـ18 عامًا، سيتضمن راتبًا سنويًا قدره 2.5 مليون يورو، أي ضعف ما يتقاضاه حاليًا في دورتموند.

جيوفاني خاض هذا الموسم مع دورتموند 5 لقاءات بمُختلف المسابقات، وتمكن من إحراز هدفين وقدم أربع تمريرات حاسمة.

Loads of West Ham United fans on Twitter have turned on homegrown hero Declan Rice after his latest comments, following Saturday’s costly home defeat to Everton.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men had a chance to go seventh in the Premier League but failed to show up in any regard at London Stadium, being sunk 2-0 by Marco Silva’s men and falling into the bottom half.

No player was safe from criticism in the wake of the shambolic performance, not even the Academy of Football product and recent full England debutant Rice.

Post-match, the 20-year-old spoke to the club’s official website and said: “With the squad we’ve got we should be [aiming for] seventh and every chance we’ve had to move seventh we’ve lost and ruined that opportunity. We need to do better.”

This only roused angry Irons supporters on April Fools’ day with one commenting that it was the best joke he’s ever seen on April 1, while others simply told Rice to “wake up” and frivolously disagreed with the starlet about the strength of the current squad in east London.
